First Aid- Emergency Procedures

Eye Contact - Immediately flush eyes with copious amounts of water for at least 20 minutes.  Retract eyelids often.  Immediately consult an ophthalmologist.

Skin Contact - Immediately wash with soap and water (remove contaminated clothing) Consult a dermatologist.

Inhalation - Remove from source of exposure, consult a physician.

Ingestion --  Immediately consult a physician.

7.     Spill, Leak, and Disposal Procedures

Spill Response Procedures: Wear protective clothing, such as safety glasses, gloves, respirator, rubber boots.  Carefully avoid contact to skin, eyes, and inhalation of product vapors.

Preparing Waste for Disposal: Do not allow material to contaminate ground water system.  Incinerate in a facility that complies with Federal, State, and local requirements.

 

8.     Special Handling Information

Ventilation and Engineering Controls: Provide sufficient ventilation in volume and pattern to keep airborne levels below 20 ppm.

Precautions to be Taken in Storage and Handling: Store between 17¼ and 25¼ C in well ventilated area, away from direct sunlight, initiators, oxidizing and/or reducing agents.  Don't fill containers completely.


Other Precautions: If thawing crystallized methacrylic acid, do not apply temperatures above 25¼ C.

Respiratory Protection: When levels exceed 20 ppm, wear self-contained breathing apparatus.

Eye Protection: Splash-proof chemical workers goggles.

Gloves:  PVC gloves are recommended.

Other Clothing or Equipment when Handling larger quantities: Eyewash, emergency shower, protective garments.

Work/Hygienic Practices: Avoid contact with eyes, skin, and mucous membranes.  Do not use or store near food or drink.  Wash hands thoroughly after every use and before using restroom.  Follow the standards of good industrial hygiene practices.
